Cover subject "Glurpo" was scanned from an old postcard of Martin Venezky's. It was from Aquarena, a roadside water park in San Marcos, Texas, and Glurpo's high-concept act would apparently include handstands in a small tank of water. In this issue, Speak makes a tentative step toward more substantial editorial, while still including silly fashion photo features—this one by world-renowned photographer Manuela Pavesi (we hadn't heard of her either, but whenever we mentioned the name to fashiony types they seemed impressed).
